Owner Biography

My life’s passion for home design began very young. In my free time outside of school and competitive sports, I would spend countless hours designing homes on my parents desktop. Although growing up in the Piedmont, it only took a few family trips to the beach to appreciate the natural beauty and draw of the North Carolina coast. Which would later become my home.

After graduating from the College of Textiles at NC State University, my now wife and I decided we wanted to move back to her hometown in the Outer Banks, Ocracoke. She was offered a teaching position at the school and I was offered the opportunity to run the local surf shop. During my years running the surf shop, I was also able to pursue my passion for home design by working with locals on renovations and home design projects. Those experiences are what prompted me to start my own home design business, MB Home Designs.

The natural beauty of the North Carolina coast serves as a constant source of inspiration and is reflected in every detail of my designs. I believe that every home should be unique—just like the client it’s created for. By thoughtfully using each client’s vision as the foundation, I design beautiful, functional, and personalized homes that are truly one of a kind.

By utilizing the most advanced home design and visualization software, clients are able to virtually walk-through their homes as it is being designed. This ensures that no detail is overlooked and that every aspect of the design is perfected before construction begins.

Rooted in Ocracoke, Committed to Exceptional Design

Having made Ocracoke Island my permanent home, I have developed a deep understanding of the coastal lifestyle and aesthetic. My mission is to design homes that embrace this way of life while emphasizing the natural beauty of the Outer Banks.
